When plowing a field, the first row plowed is the most important. It has to be straight, especially when you have acres of land to cultivate. If you get the first row straight, the whole field will be straight. If you get the first row crooked, the rest of the field will be crooked, and the end result is more work and time.
More than anything, having a plan in place will get your counseling program off to a great start. Best of all, a well-run program will establish you as an effective school leader. Hitting the ground running with a purpose will enable you to drive your program instead allowing the program to drive you.
