What if we told you our side hustle for teachers reignited our passion in the classroom, made us more driven educators, rewarded us financially, and connected us with like-minded people who offer encouragement and support that is sometimes lacking in school settings?  You pour your heart out in the classroom, use your planning time to call parents, drink your cold coffee throughout the day, and take a bathroom break once (imaybe). Did you know that teachers quit jobs at the highest rate on record?  We don’t want to see you quit a teaching job. We found our renewed joy through our profitable side hustle AND by joining the Transform Your Resources course by Kayse Morris.  What is a side hustle anyway?  A good side hustle definition is a job that a person has in addition to full-time employment.  The difference between a side hustle and a part-time job is that side hustles are usually freelance, meaning a person works on his own schedule.  So… You could do what you enjoy doing on your own schedule AND make money! To find your best side hustle ideas, ask yourself what you enjoy doing.  For us it was… well, our job! We are school counselors and helping others is our passion! So we started creating resources that could benefit students across the nation!

Get Excited and Make Things

So let’s talk about what happened when we turned our passion into our side hustle business.  We found a fresh excitement for our job, not just our side hustle job, but our full time positions as school counselors.  Our students have benefited tremendously. Each time we develop a lesson, we try it out on our students.  We take note of each student’s reaction and make changes to our lessons to make them more effective. Our lessons transformed from something we had to do to something we couldn’t wait to do.  We believe that this has been our best and most focused year yet.

Creative Juices Are Flowing

I can almost hear you now, “Oh, I’m not creative!”  Back up, sister (or brother). If you’re in education, you.are.creative!  A funny thing happened when we started selling our teaching resources through our side hustle for teachers.  We were inspired to kick it up a notch when we created our lessons. We started by just adding a creative element here and a game there.  Before we knew it, we were being inspired by EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE! If we could attribute a character trait to creativity, we might say it’s attention hungry.  The more attention you give creativity, the more it wants to hang around. So if you feel like you aren’t creative enough to sell your resources through a side hustle online, start small by practicing being creative.  Flexing that creativity muscle will cause it to strengthen. Before you know it, you’ll be bench-pressing those creative resources!
